Overcome Resistance

How to respond when people are not accepting or struggling to accept or comply with change.

• Expect some level of resistance to any change. This is a normal reaction and is better expressed than hidden.
• Create a safe space for people to express their concerns. Ensure that there are no consequences to expressing opposing views.
• Be transparent about what is fixed and what is negotiable. Listen to ideas and suggestions, but don't set people up if their ideas cannot be acted upon.
