Speak Up For Others
How to intervene and support another person, when witness to potentially harmful situations.
- Pay attention to your instincts if something feels not quite right (NQR). If it feels wrong to you it's probably wrong to others. Notice proximity, touch, words, agitation level.
- Weigh up the risks associated with not doing something vs doing something. It's better to intervene too early if the consequences of inaction are severe.
- Check in with the person at risk of harm as a priority "Are you ok?" Ensuring your own safety, then decide best next steps, E.g. Get backup, confront, leave.
